Surface Tension Chaim van Luit
(2016)

166 x 166 cm Aluminum, varnish Courtesy tegenboschvanvreden

Having traipsed through caves and bunkers in the past, Chaim van Luit is currently focussing on his own body. The large circle represents the surface area of his skin, which he calculated with the help of a formula. All the scars he has sustained were reproduced in aluminium plate and subsequently welded on. Van Luit has mapped out the memory of his body like a planet, the appearance of which seems to be continually changing.
