Labour Series Priscila Fernandes
(2021)

Priscila Fernandes is interested in testing if the introduction of a culture of leisure into the fabric of our working lives could create new perceptions and sensorial experiences.

By setting up situations in which Fernandes engages in leisure activities, such as by roller-skating, swimming from pool to pool, relaxing in a hammock or learning to ski, she simultaneously uses these activities to create large scale paintings. Interesting coincidences start to emerge, such as the American invention of roller skates in the 60’s and Abstract Expressionism or the Anthropometries performances by Yves Klein with the first inflatable swimming pool.

These situations are photographed and integrated within the series entitled Labour Series.
