Irene Lusztig is a feminist filmmaker, producer, archival researcher, educator, and amateur seamstress. Her work brings historical materials into conversation with the present day, inviting viewers to contemplate questions of politics, ideology, and the production of personal, collective, and national memories.
Her films have been screened around the world in various exhibitions and festivals, including at the Berlinale, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Film at Lincoln Center, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, and the BFI London Film Festival amongst others. Lusztig teaches filmmaking at the University of California, Santa Cruz, as a Professor of Film and Digital Media. She is a 2021 Guggenheim Fellow.
