The artistic practice of Falke Pisano (based in Rotterdam) scrutinizes the ways in which systems of thought are structured, formalized, and ultimately naturalized. Her series of works stem from long-term research cycles that delve deep into specific subject matters and undermine conventional frameworks of knowledge by triggering a continuous exchange between language, ideas, materials, and forms.
Pisano has exhibited internationally, including solo presentations at Centre Pompidou, Metz (2019), Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam (2019); Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Cordoba, Spain (2016); Badischr Kunstverein, Karlsruhe, Germany (2016); REDCAT, Los Angeles (2015); Praxes, Berlin (2014) ar/ge kunst, Bolzano, Italy (2014); The Showroom, London (2013); Grazer Kunstverein (with Benoît Maire; 2009). She performed at Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid (2012) and has participated in numerous significant group exhibitions: Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2018, 2012, 2011, 2006); 20th Biennale of Sydney (2016); Istanbul Biennial (2013); Shanghai Biennale (2012); Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm (2012); MACBA, Barcelona (2009); Yokohama Triennale (2008); Manifesta 7, Italy (2008); 5th Berlin Biennale (2008); and Kunsthalle Basel (2008).
