Having completed his graphic design education at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Simon Wald-Lasowski spent several years working as a conceptual photographer for both cultural and commercial clients. He went on to study at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht from 2016 to 2017, and did a residency at the Institute for Provocation in Beijing.
The extraordinary and eclectic world of Simon Wald-Lasowski (born in Paris, 1980; lives and works in Amsterdam) comprises objects and selected members of the Animalia kingdom. He creates installations, videos and sculptures, all inspired by his palette d’objets, a colourful collection of everyday objects. The objects are quirky, shiny, animalistic or colourful, and, strangely enough, often both hideous and appealing.
