The Guanyin god sculpture (14th century) comes from China and is the Chinese interpretation of the goddess of comfort and mercy. In traditional Chinese religion, Taoism and Chinese Buddhism, Guanyin is often prayed to in times of danger because the story goes that Guanyin rescues people who are in danger.
