Nora Schultz investigates the relationship between painting, sculpture, performance and language. She works mainly with industrial materials that she collects in her own mundane environment. From metal and tubes to carpets, shafts and pieces of rope. Objects she has found are given a new place in abstract sculptures and paintings, which are characterised by a precarious balancing act. Nora Schultz' Tripods are part of a series of works she made about a science fiction interview she came across about tripods that come to life. The makeshift stands Schultz uses appear both precarious and ominous, with legs that look as though they could spring to life at any moment.
