Amoebae form an important part of Bob Eikelboom's work. An amoeba is an extremely small one-celled organism. Its name comes from the Greek word Amoibe, which means change, and relates to the organism's constantly changing form. One can never be sure what the unformed organism is going to become. For instance, will it become a parasite that lives in man, or will it live an independent life? The Amoeba represents the start of a life and uncertainty about the end of our life. It is the uncertainty about where life will take us and how long or how short it will be.
