Liefdesvlucht (I) Gijs Assmann
(2013)

40 x 30 cm watercolor and acrylic paint Galerie Nouvelles Images

Gijs Assmann is interested in human inadequacy and the dark side of life: man as he ‘really’ is. The main character in the works on paper which are displayed here seems to be searching for ways of escaping everyday life. Sometimes literally, with the help of a parachute or a hot-air balloon; sometimes symbolically by means of love, religion or death.
