Untitled Derk Thijs
(2009)

122 x 122 cm Oil on board Galerie Onrust

This painting, together with other works from this period, arises from the question of what Derk Thijs believes must be depicted. His answer is that it should be timeless, living things, such as animals, people and plants. These paintings show everyday scenes, which at the same time belong to a long tradition of painting, for example paradise: a place beyond time where life is orderly, good and beautiful.
